Jag läser för tillfället Åsne Seierstads bok Två systrar om två norgesomaliska systrar, nitton och sexton år, som rymmer till Syrien för att delta i IS / Daeshs jihad. Seierstad kallar boken ett reportage, den dokumenterar alltså ett autentiskt fall.
Det är skrämmande läsning, Seierstad kommer säkert att anklagas för islamofobi, men hon är nog mest extremistofob och i synnerhet daeshofob, och det med rätta. Texten är skrämmande dels genom vad den berättar om IS men nog åtminstone lika mycket genom det den berättar om fundamentalistisk och extremistisk islams rekrytering bland i Norge uppvuxna muslimska ungdomar till jihad. Ska återkomma när jag läst ut boken.
Halvvägs genom boken drar jag osökt paralleller till Hanna Gadbans bok ’Min jihad – jakten på liberal islam’ från i fjol. Gadban redogör för sin kamp mot extrema former av islam och mot vulgäruppfattningen att alla muslimer är likadana. Samtidigt är boken en svidande anklagelse mot det Sverige som tycker det är politiskt korrekt att klumpa ihop alla muslimer och bortse från att det inom det muslimska samfundet finns åtminstone lika stora åsiktsskillnader om det mesta och i synnerhet om religionen som inom majoritetsbefolkningen. Att det officiella Sverige i den naiva toleransens och den politiska korrekthetens namn blundar för orättvisor och åsiktsförtryck inom invandrargrupper.
Gadban har retat gallfeber på både svensk officiell islamexpertis och svenska militanta imamer och blivit kallad både islamofob, rasist och sverigedemokratisk medlöpare. Men en måste fråga sig om det faktiskt behövs sverigedemokrater – eller sannfinnar – för att få det officiella Sverige – eller Finland – att inse att det finns muslimer och muslimer och alla kan inte dras över en kam. Att det finns de som från sina hemländer är vana att leva i harmoni med sina grannar i ett multikulturellt samhälle och gärna skulle fortsätta med det här i Norden, och så finns det å andra sidan en liten sekteristisk grupp av islamister som – åtminstone i Sverige – tillåts representera alla muslimer och som vill radikalisera islam och införa sharialagar och en likriktningskultur ofta mycket striktare än i de länder de emigrerat från.
Och till sist en notis; unga singaporeanska kvinnor som står i beråd att gifta sig lär på brudkurser (Bridal Bootcamp) som anordnas av det muslimska samfundet därstädes få bland annat följande förhållningsregler för hur en gift kvinna ska uppföra sig:
– ”Lyssna till din man” – detta betyder i klartext alltså inte dialog utan att ’kvinnor pratar för mycket i stället för att lyssna på sina män’.
– ”Lyd din man” – om han ber om en drink, lyd, ge honom en. Om han ber dig bära huvudduk eller be tillsammans med honom måste du lyda.
– ”Berätta inte om problem i äktenskapet för någon” – såhär isoleras kvinnan från släkt och vänner..
– ”Om du begår äktenskapsbrott har din man rätt att slå dig och / eller hålla dig inlåst tills du dör” – (!)
Den singaporeanska kvinnoorganisationen AWARE reagerade genom ett öppet brev till brudkursens arrangörer där de framhåller att våld inom äktenskapet under inga villkor kan godkännas eller ursäktas.
Så hur ska en sekulär nordbo förhålla sig till islam ? Att bara ta avstånd och se ned på ’svartskallarna’ och deras kultur skapar ju bara grogrund för bland annat just rekrytering till jihad.
Good question: hur ska en sekulär nordbo förhålla sig till islam? Perhaps by reading STILL more. E.g. one could read the Koran (my copy of ”The Holy Qur’an – Translated by Abdullah Yusuf Ali” was costing me 5,50€ when I bought it from Akademen) – although being admittedly somewhat boring it makes very clear that Islam is a religion which is quite compatible with civilized life (IF one has read and even understood the Koran, which is not the same as having successfully learned to sing it out in medieval Arabic …). Further, there would be ”How to win a Cosmic War” by Reza Aslan, which presents quite interesting material from sociological research (e.g. the fact that it is quite often the second generation of immigrants, i.e. those Muslims who were born and growing up in a Western society, who turn to radical Islamism). From the Chinese crime mysteries by Robert van Gulik (who wrote them in order to introduce the reader to the classical Chinese system) one could learn that in classical China the authorities were in the habit of closing down temples where illegal activities were preached, also telling the preachers in no unclear terms to move on (perhaps a good advice to the Singaporean authorities). And we, who live in Helsingfors, should never forget that we have here the Tatars, who are Muslims, are perfectly adapted, and (according to the contacts I have to some of them) not unhappy about their being adapted.
Ernst Macke, are you serious? You’ve read the whole Quran? I have and after reading that i can claim that it´s impossible to deny that the quran is very strict in dividing people into us versus them – believers versus unbelievers, one cannot deny that it encourages violence against unbelievers in numerous places (example 2:191-192, 9:5, 47:4 e.t.c., there are altogether more than 100 verses that preach violence against unbelievers!). It speaks about how Allah hates the unbelievers and describes very poetically how they are gonna be punished after death while believers will get a paradise full of women (example 37:48) e.t.c. A challenge to everyone is to read the quran for oneself and find out, if you can’t buy it, it can be read online: https://quran.com/ Does these passages make the Old Testament any better? Of course not, the difference is anyway that we have SECULARISED ourselves in the West.
I was referring to the overall impression one gets when reading the Quran. E.g. one has to read more than half of it before there is any mentioning of the presence of women in the (otherwise rather boring) paradise, and the (to me) clearest overall impression is that it is preaching MODERATION. Certainly it does not like nonbelievers, but the formulation that ”Allah is merciful” occurs surprisingly often, and in at least the practice of Islam the Christians are at least not just ”heathen” but ”people of the book”, thus not people to be killed out of hand. Certainly one can dislike Islam as much as any other Abrahamic religion (they are ALL very intolerant), but quite as certainly history has proven that quite tolerant societies are possible even under Islamic rule (and never forget our Helsinki Tatars). But perhaps I am too much under the influence of an experience from a correspondence with a German friend from school times: he wrote that Muslims were in the habit of blowing themselves up together with some nonbelievers, this at a time when there were 3,5 mio Muslims in Germany and not a single suicide bombing had occurred ,,, – and when one asks what type of idiot he was. well, he had successfully studied psychology and also had an according job up to his (rather well-payed) retirement. Am I perhaps oversensitive to extreme anti-Islamic claims?
